KATHMANDU, JUNE 20

Nepal emerged victorious against the United States of America (USA), triumphing by six wickets in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 on Tuesday.

In the match held today at the Takashinga Sports Club in the Zimbabwean capital, Harare batting first USA were bowled out in 49.0 overs and managed to post 207 runs.

Shayan Jahangir of USA smashed an unbeaten century as he drilled the Nepali bowlers for 100 runs in 79 balls.

For Nepal Karan KC took the most wickets for his 4-fer in his nine overs while giving away only 33 runs. Similarly, Gulshan Jha too made notable contribution with the ball and scalped three wickets and leaked only 52 runs while Dipendra Singh took two.

Meanwhile, Lalit Rajbanshi etched one wicket to his name.

Nepal managed to chase the target of 208 runs with seven overs to spare by making 211 at the expense of four wickets.

Bhim Sharki made the most of any Nepali batsman in the match with his 77 runs (off 114 delivers), while both Kushal Bhurtel and Kushal Malla added 39 runs each to the teams total.

Karan KC was awarded the man-of-the-match award.

Currently, with two points Nepal sits third on the Group A's table.

In the maiden match of the qualifiers, held on Sunday Nepal had faced a humiliating eight-wicket loss at the hand of hosts Zimbabwe.

Nepal will lock horns with West Indies on Thursday afternoon at the Harare Sports Club.

The ICC Cricket World Cup Qualifiers 2023 began on Sunday, June 18 and is being hosted by Zimbabwe. A total of 10 teams are competing in the tournament, divided into two groups, with the hopes of qualifying for the ODI World Cup 2023, which will be held later this year in October-November in India.

Group A comprises Zimbabwe, West Indies, Netherlands, USA, and Nepal, while Group B consists of UAE, Sri Lanka, Ireland, Oman, and Scotland.

After the league stage, the top three teams from each group will compete against each other in the Super Six stage. The top two teams from the tournament will earn a berth in the ODI World Cup 2023.
