KATHMANDU: The week-long World Table Tennis Day celebrations began here on Monday with the first phase of training.

ITTF Level-II coach and international umpire Naresh Rawal started the training of around 100 participants at the Stag Saroj's Table Tennis 4 All Club. The celebration is being held under the International Table Tennis Foundation's theme of 'Think Sustainably, Act Now.'

According to Rawal, the participants will learn and enjoy various drills of table tennis in the first phase. "We will organise competitions in the second phase and award the players in third and final phase," said Rawal, who will also distribute kits to underprivileged participants.

"The participants will get opportunities to learn and showcase their skills and I am grateful to ITTF Foundation, Stag International and All Nepal Table Tennis Association for the support," Rawal said.
