Yeti Airlines win Burma Memorial Cup

Man of the match Abhaya Rana took four wickets as Yeti Airlines of Kathmandu defeated Khukuri Cricket Club of Bhairahawa by eight wickets in the final of the third Binesh Burma Memorial National Cricket Tournament, here at Mechi Stadium today. Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Khukuri Club were bowled out for just 61 runs in 27.4 overs. The match was reduced to 30-over-a side because of overnight rain. Prakash Gurung top-scored with 17 runs and Dipn Lamgade made 10 and others could not reach the double figure mark.

For Kathmandu, Abhaya Rana grabbed four wickets giving away 19 runs in six overs, Kalam Ali took three wickets conceding 10 runs in six overs. Raju Basnet, who conceded 14 runs in six overs, claimed two wickets and Paras Khadka pocketed one wicket in 3.4 overs. In reply, Yeti Airlines overcame the target in 17.1 overs losing two wickets. Kanishka Chaugain scored unbeaten 32 runs whereas Paras Khadka and Prafulla Baidya contributed eight runs each.

For Khukuri Club, Susan Man Shrestha claimed one wicket conceding nine runs in three overs.

Raj Kumar Pradhan of East West Overseas of Kathmandu was named the man of the series for scoring 88 runs and taking three wickets, Deependra Chaudhary of Yeti Airlines was adjudged the best batsman. Chaudhary scored 92 runs in the tournament. Deepesh Khatri was declared the best bowler for taking nine wickets. With the win, Yeti Airlines recieved Rs 20,000 and Khukuri Club bagged Rs 10,000. Minister for Education and Sports Radha Krishna Mainali gave away prizes.
