KATHMANDU: Chief of Army Staff Gen Rookmangud Katawal has responded to the government notice. Katawal’s reply was sent to prime minister’s office this morning and delivered by Brigadier General Rajendra Bahadur Chettri to the PMO. A copy of the reply has also been sent to the defence ministry as well. In his reply Katawal has said that Nepal Army has always followed orders from the civilian authority and whatever decisions have been taken by the army have been conveyed to the defence ministry regularly, according to sources. On the recruitment issue Katawal said that it was an ongoing process and he merely gave continuity to it. On the withdrawal of Nepal Army from National Games Katawal said that it was the decision of Tribhuvan Army Sports Club. He also said that defence ministry had been informed when the eight reinstated general reported back to work, sources added.
