Democratic fighter Sapkota dies at 92

CHITWAN: Dadhiram Sapkota who was actively involved in the movement against the Panchayat system (from 1960 to 1990) passed away this morning at his own residence at Lanku of Bharatpur Metropolitan City-4 in Chitwan district. He was 92.

Born in Galkot of Baglung in 1925 AD, he immigrated to Chitwan in 1961.

Sapkota was jailed for several times in his life for his involvement in the struggle for freedom and independence. He had already served as the Nepali Congress Bharatpur town president and the District Working Committee member and was the founder of Laxmi Secondary School, Lanku.

Sapkota is survived by his two daughters and three sons. His last rites will be performed at Devghat today itself, according to the family source.
