Speakers, deputy speakers meet president, prime minister

Kathmandu, December 18

Speakers and deputy speakers of the federal Parliament and provincial assemblies today presented their seven-point conclusion of their daylong discussion, to President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

Speakers and deputy speakers led by federal Parliament Speaker Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Deputy Speaker Shiva Maya Tumbahamphe met Bhandari and Oli, and shared their experience and work with the new structure of three tiers of government created by the constitution. The meeting of speakers and deputy speakers was held in Chitwan on December 15.

As per deputy speaker Tumbahamphe, the conclusions of the meeting were: there should be a committee to coordinate between the federal Parliament and provincial assemblies; there should be review of hierarchical post of deputy speakers of provinces in the central government’s hierarchy list; there should be technology-friendly assembly offices in all seven provinces; there should be training for employees who have been working in the offices of the provincial assemblies and there should be a contact office for the federal Parliament and provincial assemblies, among others.
