UML Standing Committee to name Presidential Candidate today
KATHMANDU: CPN-UML's Standing Committee will elect candidate for the upcoming Presidential Election, today.
The SC meeting has been scheduled for Tuesday afternoon at the Prime Minister’s official residence in Baluwatar, according to UML Secretary Pradeep Kumar Gyawali.
Incumbent President Bidya Devi Bhandari and former Prime Minister and senior UML leader Jhalanath Khanal have expressed will to contest for the top post, the elections for which is set for March 11 by the Election Commission.
As per the agreement between ruling coalition partners CPN-UML and Maoist Centre, UML will keep the President’s post while Maoist Centre gets the Parliament Speaker’s post.
