KATHMANDU

On the third Monday of Shrawan, saffron-clad Bol Bam pilgrims from Nepal's Tarai districts and parts of India gathered at Sundarijal in Kathmandu.

Bathing in the sacred waters, they filled their kalash (pitchers) before setting off toward Pashupatinath Temple, chanting praises to Lord Shiva.

The month-long Shrawan festival sees devotees observe fasts and throng temples of Lord Shiva every Monday, offering holy water and praying for the happiness and wellbeing of their families.
