ISTANBUL:  Turkey's state-run news agency says that 13 people have been killed after a car collided with a minivan on a highway in the central Turkish province of Nigde.

Anadolu Agency says Friday's accident also left one person injured.

The deaths occurred as Muslims around the world, including those in Turkey, observe the Eid al-Adha festival, traditionally a time when livestock is slaughtered and its meat distributed to the poor.
