24 Turkish soldiers wounded in bomb attacks: Report
ISTANBUL: Turkey's military says 24 soldiers have been wounded in two explosions in the eastern province of Van.
In a brief statement posted to the military's website on Tuesday, it said the blasts occurred overnight but gave few details.
The Anadolu Agency earlier reported that the first explosion involved an improvised bomb which allegedly was remotely detonated by rebels from the Kurdistan Workers' Party, or PKK, as a military convoy was driving down the highway late Monday.
The attacks follow airstrikes which the Turkish military says killed five Kurdish rebels in the neighboring province of Hakkari.
Violence between the PKK and Turkey's military reignited this summer after the collapse of peace talks between the two sides.
