WARWICK, NEW YORK: A third teenager riding in a driver's education car that collided with a truck in a rural town intersection has died of his injuries.

Lucas O'Connor, who was 16, died Wednesday, Goshen School District Superintendent Daniel Connor said. He said he received word of the teen's death shortly before hundreds of people descended onto the streets in Warwick for a planned vigil Wednesday night.

O'Connor and two other teens were seated in the backseat of a 2007 Chevrolet Malibu sedan on Tuesday when it was struck by a Freightliner truck at an intersection in Warwick, in southeastern New York near the New Jersey border.

Police said the truck collided with the rear driver's side door of the car when the car pulled into its path. The car had a stop sign and a flashing red light, and the truck, which wasn't pulling a trailer, had a flashing caution light.

The two other teens in the backseat, Antonio Baglivo and Paul VanDoran, also were killed.

The 16-year-old driver, Claudia Krebs, and the 61-year-old driving instructor, who was in the front passenger seat, were injured. A hospital spokesman did not immediately return a call late Wednesday for comment on their conditions.

Police said the car was owned by Middletown's Decat Driving School. Company representatives did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

Grief counselors were at the teens' high school on Wednesday and were available for students and others.
