60 child porn arrests in US, Latin America

MEXICO CITY: Sixty people have been arrested on charges of child pornography and three minors were rescued in a joint operation with FBI agents and police in Argentina, Chile and Mexico. The minors, aged nine, 14 and 15, were rescued in Mexico as part of “Operation Without Borders,” Mexico’s National Security Commission (CNS) said in a statement on Sunday. The minors were allegedly “used by close relatives or neighbours to obtain images of child pornography that were later posted on Internet sites, on social media networks and sent by email,” the statement read. Eight of the arrests took place in Mexico, the CNS said, without releasing names or dates. Regarding the 52 other arrests, the statement said only that search warrants were carried out in Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Spain, Guatemala, Paraguay, Venezuela and the United States.
