Thailand will invite the pan-Arab news channel Al-Jazeera to cover ongoing unrest in the kingdom’s Muslim-majority south, a senior government official said today.

Lieutenant General Plangkoon Klaharn, a spokesman for Thailand’s Southern Peace Building Command, said the foreign ministry will send a letter inviting Al-Jazeera to report from the region and cover the steps the Thai government has taken to solve the problems there. He said media in general have “distorted” the conditions in Thai south.
