Bid on minister’s life foiled

PESHAWAR: Pakistan police say they have foiled a plan to assassinate the education minister in North West Frontier Province by confronting the plotters, including a teenage suicide bomber who then blew himself up. Police officer Noor Jamal Khan says an informant tipped off officers that the attackers had gathered in a government high school. Khan says police confronted the four militants early Monday and a firefight ensued. A loud explosion rocked the building and three of the militants escaped. He says police later found the body parts of the teenage bomber.
