Dhaka mutineers trial on

DHAKA: Bangladesh today began trials in the capital for border guards involved in a deadly mut-iny nearly a year ago, a military official said.

The court, headed

by the new Bangladeshi Rifles director general Major General Md Mainul Islam, opened today in the same hall where the mutiny began last year, said Colonel Aziz Ahmed, BDR Dhaka sector chief and spokesman.

“This special court will try 86 soldiers

who are accused of

participating in the mutiny at the headquarters, not those directly involved in the killings,” Ahmed said.
