Orissa chief minister Naveen Patnaik is likely to dissolve the legislative on February 8 to make way for early state polls to coincide with upcoming parliamentary elections, an official said today.

An official of the finance department said Chief Minister Patnaik had ordered that preparations be made for early elections in the state.

The state assembly will sit on February 5 for three days. The vote on account would be presented on the second day, the official said.

The state finance department has asked all departments to submit their budgets by the end of this month.

The finance department will place a vote on account for the first four months of the financial year 2004-2005, he said. Patnaik will go for the dissolution of the House on the concluding day of the assembly.
