Dubai, March 7:

Iraq is still planning to put ousted president Saddam Hussein on trial after overturning his status as a prisoner of war, interim foreign minister Hoshyar Zebari said in an interview published in a newspaper today.

"Saddam will be judged by an Iraqi court, despite his prisoner of war status," Zebari told Asharq al-Awsat daily.

"After a sovereign government is set up, we intend to ask the coalition to change this present status of prisoner of war and to hand Saddam Hussein over to the Iraqi authorities to be tried," he said.
