Japan on Saturday felt a strong earthquake of magnitude 7.2 at 18:09 Japanese time (09:09 UTC).
According to the Japan Meteorological Agency, the quake was recorded off the coast of Miyagi Prefecture. The Agency has issued a tsunami advisory for Miyagi Prefecture.
The details from European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre show that the region is located near east coast of Honshu of Japan. It is located at 38.56 degrees North and 141.41 degrees East.
The quake had a depth of 70 kilometres (km) and stretched as far as 58 km north-east of Sendai, Japan and 19 km north-north east of Ishinomaki, Japan.
Similarly, a major earthquake of magnitude 7.1 had struck Japan on February 13. That day was a Saturday too.
