Pak troops kill 22 militants

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan says its troops have killed 22 insurgents in on ongoing operation in the northwestern Khyber

tribal region.

A statement from Frontier Corps, a paramilitary force, said today it also destroyed three militant hideouts.

The military claims to have killed scores of militants in the region in the past two weeks.

Militants frequently attack trucks in the famed Khyber Pass carrying supplies to US troops in Afghanistan.

Meanwhile, the top official in Khyber, Tariq Hayat, said 350 cops had quit their jobs because of threats from the Taliban-affiliated group, Lashkar-e-Islam.
