Pakistan army claims killing 5 militants near Afghan border

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan's military says the country's security forces have killed five "terrorists" in a northwestern tribal region near the Afghan border.

In a statement, the military said the shootout took place Saturday in the Mohmand tribal region. It says the slain men were planning attacks, but did not provide details of their identities.

The announcement came days after militants killed nine police officers in two ambushes in Mohmand.
