Palestinian dies in clashes with Israeli troops in West Bank

JERUSALEM: The Palestinian health ministry says a 21-year-old Palestinian has died in clashes with Israeli troops in the West Bank.

Ministry spokesman Mohammed Awawdeh says Yehya Taha died in a Ramallah hospital of bullet wounds to the head.

Palestinian media say Taha died following an army raid of the village of Qattana. The Israeli army did not immediately comment on the reports.

Since mid-September, 19 Israelis have died in Palestinian attacks, mostly stabbings and shootings. At least 92 Palestinians have died, including 58 said by Israel to be attackers. The others died in clashes with Israeli forces.

Israel says the unrest stems from incitement by Palestinians. The Palestinians say it's rooted in frustrations over Israel's nearly half a century-long occupation. Palestinians accuse Israel of using excessive force in suppressing violence.
