Assailants fired two rockets at a base for army troops in a tribal town in northwestern Pakistan, but no one was hurt, an intelligence official said on Monday. The rockets hit near a soccer field on the base on Sunday in Miran Shah, the main town in the North Waziristan tribal region, the official said on condition of anonymity. — AP
Storm affects Yangon

Heavy rains caused flooding in areas of the Myanmar capital Yangon, but the effects so far of tropical storm Vicente on the country were relatively mild, the director general of the Meteorological Department said on Monday. Rebels blow up bus
HYDERABAD:
Suspected communist rebels blew up an empty passenger bus in wouthern India on Monday, police said. There were no reports of casualties. Six armed guerrillas entered the state-owned bus, which was parked for the night in Vanipally.— AP
