KANDAHAR: US-led coalition and Afghan forces attacked a suspected Taliban hideout in southeastern Afghanistan, killing eight militants and arresting three, an official said on Sunday. One Afghan soldier was wounded in the operation. — AP

BANGKOK: A former official from Thailand’s Agriculture Ministry beli-eved to be suffering from stress shot five of his relatives, killing four, and committed suicide, police said on Su-nday. Sompol Srimaung, 58, opened fire with a handgun as his relatives were eating dinner on Saturday. — AP
