Three PWG rebels killed
HYDERABAD: Two leftwing rebels allegedly involved in a failed bid to assassinate the chief minister of Indian state of Andhra Pradesh have been killed trying to escape custody, police said on Sunday. The two militants, senior leaders of the Peoples War Group were arrested on Saturday in Karnataka.
Mysterious disease kills 14
DHAKA: A mysterious disease has claimed the lives of 14 children and women in Bangladesh, with many people beginning to flee their villages in panic. Three of the deaths were reported at the Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) on Saturday.
German scribe released
BANDA ACEH: The Indonesian army released a German freelance journalist who was detained for illegally entering Aceh, a military spokesman said. German national Sacha Grabwo left Aceh on late Saturday for Medan after spending the night in jail.
Drugs meet in Kabul
KABUL: Afghanistan will host an international conference on drug problem from February 8 to 9 in Kabul, a UN spokesman said. Delegates will include members of the Afghan government and representatives from international institutions and countries engaged in the fight against drugs in Afghanistan.
