Suicide attacks kill 4 Iraqi troops in western Iraq

BAGHDAD: Officials say a series of suicide attacks have killed at least four Iraqi security forces and wounded ten others in western Iraq.

Sheikh Mal-Allah al-Obeidi, head of the town council in al-Baghdadi, in Anbar province, said five suicide bombers attacked his guesthouse at dawn on Wednesday, killing a tribal fighter guarding the building and wounding 10 others.

He says another two suicide attackers bombed the police patrol that headed to the scene, killing the local police chief and two policemen.

A police officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to the press, confirmed the details and casualty figures.

Iraqi forces retook the town of Al-Baghdadi from Islamic State group in March 2015, backed by US-led airstrikes.
