W Bengal sets up special squad to quiz Maoists

Kolkata, June 1:
West Bengal has beefed up operations against Maoist guerrillas by setting up a special squad to interrogate captured extremists and to probe their attacks.
The 15-member Special Operation Group (SOG), which began functioning yesterday, has been set up in view of growing subversive activities by Maoist groups like People’s War and the Maoist Communist Centre, officials said.
IG of Police (Intelligence Bureau-IB) Sandhi Mukherjee heads the SOG. It includes two deputy SPs, one each from the Crime Investigation Department (CID) and the IB.
