Nepal Rastra Bank Governor proposes 4 names for deputies
KATHMANDU: Four Nepal Rastra Bank officials have been recommended for the two vacant posts of Deputy Governor.
The NRB Governor Chiranjibi Nepal recommended Chintamani Siwakoti, Narayan Paudel, Trilochan Pangeni and Shiva Nath Pandey to the posts.
Paudel is from the Bank Supervision Department, Siwakoti from Currency Management Department, Pangeni from the Governor's Office and Pandey from the Bank and Financial Institutions Regulation Department.
Siwakoti hails from Jhapa while the remaining three are from Syangja district.
As per Section 16 of the NRB Act 2002, candidates twice the number of vacant posts are recommended on the basis of work efficiency and seniority before appointing Deputy Governors.
Based on the recommendation of the Governor, the Council of Ministers takes the final decision.
The two posts are responsible for supervision and monetary policy respectively.
The then Deputy Governors Gopal Prasad Kafley and Maha Prasad Adhikari's five-year-term had expired on December 25.
