12 suspects arrested in Lalitpur for involvement in crime

LALITPUR: Metropolitan Police Range, Lalitpur and its subordinate units have arrested 12 persons from different places of the district in the past one week for their alleged involvement in crimes.

Police held Pujan Khadka, 17, of Lalitpur, Bijaya Lama, 28, Sanjaya Lama, 21, and Ajaya Lama, 22, of Makawanpur, and Biraj Lama, 21, of Gorkha for being involved in a gang fight over an issue of eve teasing at Bhaisepati. Pujan and Sanjay were injured in the scuffle. Officials said police have confiscated a sword from Sanjaya and a sharp weapon from Pujan. They have been charged with social crimes, police said.

In a separate incident, police arrested Mukesh Chaudhary, 22, of Saptatri, currently residing in New Baneshwor, Kathmandu, for vandalising an ATM booth in Kumaripati. A police patrol team had caught him in the act of vandalising the booth in an apparent theft bid.

Likewise, police arrested Sanju Nepali, 39, of Lalitpur, and Shyam Rai, 30, Ashok Moktan, 19, and Bibek Rai, 19, of Mahottari for thrashing five persons who were distributing relief materials to earthquake victims in Chhampi.

In another operation, police arrested Roshan Kumar Yadav, 30, of Mahottari with fake Nepali bank notes in Gwarko. He was caught while making transaction of a counterfeit note in the denomination of Rs 1,000 with a shopkeeper to buy a mobile phone recharge card. It was followed by a raid on his rented room where police confiscated more fake notes with a face value of Rs 700,00. All notes were in the denomination of Rs 1,000, police informed.

Likewise, police nabbed Binod Sah, 33, of Sarlahi, who was absconding after carrying out an armed robbery in the house of Gem Prasad Sapkota on August 2, 2008. Four persons, including Sah, had raided the house in Gimdi-6 by taking the family members under control.
