17 persons held for fuel black-marketing

KATHMANDU: Police on Friday arrested 17 persons with a huge amount of petroleum products allegedly meant to be sold on the black market from various places in the capital.

The Metropolitan Police Range Kathmandu arrested them with 1,405 litres of petrol and 3,250 litres of diesel from various parts of the capital. Cops intercepted a bus in Kalanki and arrested two persons, including a woman, in possession of 870 litres of petrol and 750 litres of diesel.

Similarly, one person was held from Ghattekulo, one from Maitidevi and four from Chalnakhel. 535 litres of petrol and 2,500 litres of diesel have been confiscated from them.

The police also arrested nine persons from Chamati, Chandragiri, Budhanilkantha and New Bus Park.
