KATHMANDU: Two resident doctors at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital, including an Indian national, died after being hit by a microbus in Maharjgunj of Kathmandu on Sunday afternoon, police said. The victims have been identified as Dr Sanjeev Subedi and Dr Sunny Anand Gurmaita.

According to the Metropolitan Traffic Police Division, they died on the spot after the tourist microbus (Ba 1 Ya 43, with green licence plate), ferrying school students,* hit them downhill the Kanti Children's Hospital along the inner road connected to the Ring Road near Basundhara, at around 4:45 pm today.

Dr Subedi was a permanent resident of Bijuwar in Pyuthan while Dr Gurmaita hailed from Supaul district of Indian state of Bihar.

Both of them were pursuing MD in Dermatology in the Tribhuvan University's Institute of Medicine, according to one of their seniors. They were first year students.

After finishing their classes, Dr Subedi and Dr Gurmaita were apparently returning to their apartments when they were fatally hit by the four-wheeler.

Two others have sustained minor injuries in the incident, and they have already been discharged after treatment at TUTH, police said.
