House panel concerned

KATHMANDU: Development Committee of the Legislature-Parliament has expressed concerns about the pathetic situation at the country’s sole international airport.

In a report submitted to Constituent Assembly Chairman  Subas Chandra Nembang, the parliamentary panel led by lawmaker Rabindra Adhikari concluded that TIA was highly mismanaged.

“TIA has failed to provide quality services from physical and technical aspects,” the committee stated in its report pointing out numerous problems such as congestion, chaotic baggage reclaim hall, poor sanitation, lack of coordination among airport units and insufficient ground handling capacity.

“The concerned authorities must act promptly to address the fundamental problems plaguing the country’s aviation sector,” it added.
