Amend constitution to pave way for polls: PM

Kathmandu, August 19

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said he was trying his best to prepare environment for elections by amending the constitution.

He was speaking to a group of people from Sindhuli when they went to congratulate him, according to a press release issued by the PM’s Secretariat.

The PM said he was in favour of holding local polls after moving a constitutional amendment bill in the Parliament. “This will create a positive environment for political stability in the country,” the PM added.

He said he wanted to do result-oriented things without wasting time outside Singha Durbar.

“I want to spend my time in Singha Durbar monitoring the government’s functioning. I want to ensure that the government’s work yields desired results,” he added.

According to the release, the PM also said he sent two special envoys to both the neighbours in an attempt to maintain balanced diplomacy.

The group said the relief amount government allocated for the quake-hit families was far too less and hence the government needed to increase the same.
