Heavy rainfall is likely in parts of eight provinces on Monday, with thunderstorms and rain forecast across much of the country, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division.
Heavy rain is expected at one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces, and in the hilly and Terai areas of Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.
Generally cloudy conditions will prevail throughout the country. Moderate rain or snowfall accompanied by thunder and lightning is likely at some places in the Himalayan areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces, and at a few places in the Himalayan areas of Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces.
Moderate rain with thunder and lightning is also likely at some places in the hilly areas nationwide. In the Terai, such rainfall is expected in parts of Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Sudurpashchim provinces, and at a few places in Madhesh and Koshi provinces.
Similar conditions are forecast for Monday night, although the division has not forecast heavy rainfall during the night.
Kathmandu is expected to see moderate rain with thundershowers, with a maximum temperature of 27–29 degrees Celsius and a 60 per cent chance of rain. The capital's temperature is likely to fall to 18–20 degrees Celsius at night, with a 40 per cent chance of rain.
Pokhara is forecast to record 30–32 degrees Celsius during the day, with a 60 per cent chance of rain, while temperatures are expected to fall to 21–23 degrees Celsius at night.
The maximum temperature is likely to reach 34–36 degrees Celsius in Dhangadi, Nepalgunj, Bhairahawa and Simara. Dhangadi, Nepalgunj and Bhairahawa are expected to receive light rain with thunderstorms at night.
The division said monsoon winds are currently influencing the entire country. The monsoon low-pressure line is located south of its mean position.
