House-elected executive PM secured

KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly endorsed articles of the new constitution related to the Federal Executive.

The CA meeting on Tuesday endorsed Articles 74-82 which define structure and functions of the federal government.

During the voting, the CA also endorsed amendment proposals jointly registered by Nepali Congress, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist on various articles.

It, however, rejected other proposals registered by the fringe parties, including those demanding directly elected Prime Minister and executive President.

Now, the federal executive shall be headed by the Parliament-elected Prime Minister.
