Bandh affects life in Valley

KATHMANDU: Normally life in the Kathmandu Valley has been affected due to a bandh enforced by Netra Bikram Chand-led CPN Maoist on Sunday.

The bandh was called demanding food security.

Educational institutions, markets and shops pulled down their shutters from early morning, while public and private vehicles stayed off the roads.

Security personnel have been mobilised in major thoroughfares of the Valley to avert untoward incident.

People, including office goers, were forced to walk to their destination.

Police have arrested more than 113 bandh enforcers from different places of the Valley.

SP Pradyumna Karki said that they were arrested from Kalanki, Koteshwar, Maharajgunj and Chabahil among other places.

Similarly, life in Jajarkot, Pokhara and Biratnagar has also been affected due to the bandh.

Police have arrested 11 bandh enforcers for their involvement in violent activities from various places of Morang district.
