CA chairman authenticates Nepal's Constitution 2072
KATHMANDU: The Constituent Assembly chairman, Subas Chandra Nembang, on Friday authenticated the Nepal's Constitution 2072.
Nembang signed on the five copies of the historic dossier amid a special function organised at the CA building in New Baneshwor, after 537 lawmakers finished signing. The CA had endorsed the new constitution a couple of days ago with an overwhelming two-thirds majority.
Though only 532 CA members had participated in voting for the constitution, five more lawmakers signed the document besides the voters including those who voted against the charter.
Top leaders of major parties including Prime Minister Sushil Koirala were present at the function.
Now, President Ram Baran Yadav is scheduled to promulgate the new constitution on Sunday.
After the promulgation of the new constitution through the last meeting of the CA, which was elected for the second time in November 2013 and doubled as the Legislature-Parliament, will automatically dissolve.
The Legislature-Parliament, however, will continue.
