Army mobilised in Kailali, Sarlahi and Rautahat; all CDOs entrusted with special authority

KATHMANDU: An emergency meeting of the Central Security Committee held in Singhadurbar on Monday afternoon decided to mobilise  Nepal Army in Kailali district after at least 17 security personnel were killed by the Tharuhat supporters.

Speaking at the House, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs said that all the Chief District Officers have been entrusted with authority to declare "riot-hit zone" as per the Local Administration Act and mobilise the army, if need be.

He informed that Rautahat and Sarlahi also remained tense and declared riot-hit zones.

Gautam said as the police forces could not contain the situation the decision to mobilise army was made.

He claimed that today's incident was premeditated and intended to destabilise the communal harmony and affect progressive constitution.
