‘Chances of forming consensus govt slim’

Kathmandu, July 30

CPN-Maoist Centre leader Narayan Kaji Shrestha today said chances of forming a national consensus government were very slim.

Addressing the 11th general assembly and eighth general convention of Gorkha Society Service Centre in Kathmandu, leader Shrestha stressed the need for unity among political parties for the implementation of the new constitution.

“If we cannot form a consensus government, we should at least strive to forge consensus on the agendas of the new government,” said Shrestha, stressing that without consensus it was not possible to implement the new constitution, hold elections at all levels, expedite post-quake reconstruction and conclude the remaining tasks of the peace process.

Nepali Congress central member Chinkaji Shrestha said people from Gorkha had actively participated in all the democratic movements.

Centre Chair Bhaskar Kumar Shrestha and NC central member Kamala Panta were also at the programme.
