CIAA recommends suspension of APF IG Kosh Raj Onta among 4

KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Thursday recommended the government to immediately suspend Armed Police Force Inspector General Kosh Raj Onta among four APF officials for "irregularities in supplies."

The CIAA spokesperson Krishna Hari Pushkar told THT Online that the recommendation is made as per Section 19(3) of the CIAA Act 1991 for they could destroy evidences against them and influence the ongoing investigation if kept intact in the positions.

The three other officials recommended for the suspension include DSP duo Suman Jung Thapa and Ram Krishna Maharjan and Inspector Bin Bahadur Thapa, according to Pushkar.

Issuing a press statement, the anti-corruption constitutional watchdog said the officials embezzled millions of rupees from the state coffers during two fiscal years - 2012/13 and 2013/14 - while supplying various goods to the APF local units across the nation.

They had also produced fake bills to facilitate the embezzlement, the CIAA claimed.

Kosh Raj Onta is the chief of Armed Police Force since April 11, 2012.
