Code of conduct violators to face action
BHAKTAPUR: The Higher Secondary Education Board has said it will take action against those higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges that do not abide by the HSEB Code of Conduct.
After the School Leaving Certificate exam results, many Plus Two colleges have been publishing advertisements in different media, claiming themselves to be the best ones, which according to the HSEB is in violation of the Code of Conduct.
HSEB Vice Chairman Chaitanya Sharma said the HSEB was for ending all kinds of unhealthy competition and irregularities among higher secondary schools. “Those found guilty of violating the Code of Conduct will be penalised,” he said. The HSEB Code of Conduct, endorsed by the government on October 14, 2012, came into force in April 2013.
As per the Code of Conduct, higher secondary schools/ Plus Two colleges of the Kathmandu Valley can spend up to Rs 500,000 in a year in advertisements. Similarly, higher secondary schools of sub-metropolitan cities can spend up to Rs 300,000, those in municipalities can spend up to 150,000 and those in VDCs can spend up Rs 50,000 in advertisements in a year.
The Code of Conduct also prohibits use of pictures of students, V/VIPs and renowned persons in the advertisement.
The Code of Conduct has also prohibits mobile phones, motorbikes and mini-skirts by students on the college premises.
