Corruption case against ex-APF IG Oli among 7
KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) on Friday filed a corruption case at the Special Court against seven former and current Armed Police Force officials including former Inspector General Basudev Oli.
Oli is the third APF IG to face embezzlement charge over supplies of consignments to APF units. Earlier, the Commission had indicted the suspended APF IG Kosh Raj Onta and former IG Shailendra Kumar Shrestha among others on the same charge.
Like Onta and Shrestha, Oli is also accused of embezzling millions of rupees from the state coffers in the name of supplying various goods to a number of APF units by producing fake bills.
Oli was the APF Chief from May 12, 2006 to April 13, 2009.
According to the anti-corruption constitutional body, Oli and six others who are mentioned in the case today collectively embezzled Rs 11.45 million.
Other six officials made defendant in the case are former APF DSP Mahendra Bahadur Karki; APF Inspectors Bin Bahadur Thapa, Manuhira Mahat and Shiva Bahadur Adhikari; and Sub-Inspectors Devendra Kumar Shrestha and Lekh Bahadur Khatri.
Actions have been sought against them as per Section 8.1 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2002, the Commission stated in its press statement.
