Election Commission hands over registration certificate to NCP (NCP)

Kathmandu, June 7

The Election Commission handed over registration certificate to Nepal Communist Party (NCP) amidst a function here today.

Chief Election Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav handed over the certificate to NCP (NCP) General Secretary Bishnu Poudel.

Deputy parliamentary party leader of NCP (NCP) Subas  Chandra Nembang and Chief Whip Dev Gurung were also present during the  certificate handing over ceremony.

The Election Commission has clarified that no party could be assigned name and election symbol of the former CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre, which have now merged to become NCP (NCP), at least for a year.

EC Secretary Begendra Raj Sharma Poudyal said the CPN-MC’s ‘hammer and sickle within a circle’ would not be assigned to any other political party as per the political party registration law. The UML’s symbol ‘sun’ has been taken by the NCP (NCP).
