Voting for new leadership underway in NC convention

KATHMANDU: The voting process to elect new leadership is underway at the 13th general convention of the Nepali Congress at the City Hall of the Capital on Sunday.

Altogether 312 candidates are vying for 64 positions, including three office bearers and Central Working Committee members.

Out of 375 who had filed their candidacies, 63 candidates for CWC members had withdrawn their candidacies yesterday.

Acting President Ram Chandra Paudel, senior leader sher Bahadur Deuba and Krishna Prasad Situala are in the fray for the top post of the party.

Similarly, Shashanka Koirala, Gagan Thapa and Arjun Narsingha KC are vying for the post of general secretary.

KC is the father-in-law of Thapa.

Likewise, Chitra Lekha Yadav, Sita Devi Yadav, Uma Kanta Chaudhary and Krishna Bahadur Karki are competing for the post of treasurer.
