NC-Maoists to reach 'political understanding' with UDMF

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress, CPN Maoist Centre and United Democratic Madhesi Front on Saturday formed a nine-member committee to achieve what they called a political understanding.

The parties held a meeting at the office of State Affairs Committee in Singha Durbar and formed the panel comprising three leaders from each side.

The panel would prepare a modality for power sharing among the three forces for the new government expected to be formed under the leadership of CPN Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

With the formation of committee, it is expected that the UDMF will extend support to the new government.

The name list of the members will be finalised till the evening, said NC leader Bimalendra Nidhi.

The meeting was attended by NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba, senior leader Ram Chandra Paudel and leader Mahesh Acharya from the NC and Maoist Centre Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, leaders Narayan Kaji Shrestha and Krishna Bahadur Mahara from the Maoist Centre.

Likewise, Chairman of Tarai-Madhes Loktantrik Party Mahantha Thakur, Chairman of the Sadbhawana Party Rajendra Mahato and Chairman of the Sanghiya Sadbhawana Party Anil Kumar Jha had represented the UDMF in the meeting.
