Focus on economic development, post-quake reconstruction now, PM tells parties
KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Sushil Koirala said the political leadership should now focus on economic development and post-quake reconstruction after promulgation of the new Constitution.
Addressing a ceremony at Tundikhel, organised by three major parties to welcome the new constitution, Koirala said all parties should be united for that end.
He was of the view that the newly promulgated Nepal's Constitution has provided an opportunity to consolidate unity among multi-ethnic, multi-lingual, multi-religious and multi-cultural population of the nation.
Reiterating that the historic charter has institutionalised federal republic set-up in the nation, he said people's aspirations founded around 65 years ago have been finally fulfilled.
Meanwhile, Koirala claimed that dissatisfaction of agitating Tharus, Madhesis and Janajatis can be addressed through talks.
"We can address the issues of social justice, inclusion and constituency delineation through discussions and talks," he said.
Reading out his written speech, Koirala thanked all including President Ram Baran Yadav, leaders of political parties, CA members, government staff, security personnel, neighbouring and friendly nations and members of the general public for their role in successful promulgation of the new constitution.
