Parliament meeting rescheduled for Friday

KATHMANDU: The Parliament meeting has been rescheduled for Friday after it could not take place on due to differences over the parties on today's agendas.

Earlier, the meeting was postponed for 3 pm from 11 am after recent political developments that had led to registration of a no-confidence motion against the incumbent coalition government.

The House, however, was unable to begin the meeting till 5 pm today. The Parliamentary Regulations has it that if a House meeting cannot begin even two hours after the summoned time, it should be rescheduled.

It has been learned that the meeting could not take place as major parties had differences over whether the House should move ahead for endorsement of the Finance Bill - as fixed earlier - in the new political context after the major ally CPN Maoist Centre withdrew support to the coalition government led by CPN-UML Chairman Kp Sharma Oli.
