KATHMANDU: President Bidhya Devi Bhandari called off her planned visit to Biratnagar on Tuesday, keeping in view the huge loss of lives and property due to floods and landslides in various parts of the country.

She was scheduled to visit Biratnagar and inspect Mahendra Morang Adarsha Multiple Campus and Koshi Zonal Hospital and attend golden jubilee celebrations of Shree Radhakrishna chariot procession, stated a press release issued by the Office of the President.

She also announced that she would not attend cultural programmes of Teej, Gaura and Jitiya festivals scheduled for September 1.
