Two pedestrians killed in Kathmandu road accident

KATHMANDU: Two pedestrians were fatally hit by vehicles in assorted locations of Kathmandu valley on Monday, police said.

Both the victims died during the course of treatment at the Maharajgunj-based Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital this morning, according to police.

In one incident, a 50-year old man was hit by a bus (Na 5 Kha 4893) in Swyambhu in KMC-15 along Halchok road section yesterday. Police identified the man as Chetnath Bhatta, a permanent resident of Bidur Municipality in Nuwakot district. It has been learned that he used to make a living by begging around the area.

Similarly, a 9-year-old boy was hit by a taxi (Ba 2 Ja 2345) in Galkopakha in KMC-26 yesterday. Police said Dipesh BK of Shivapuri Rural Municipality-2 in Nuwakot district was critically incident in the incident.

Meanwhile, police said both the vehicles and its drivers have been impounded and rounded respectively for further investigation.
