JITPUR: A person died after the motorcycle he was riding on met with an accident in Buddhabhumi Municipality along the East-West Highway in Kapilvastu district on Sunday evening.

The deceased has been identified as Chip Narayan Tharu (40) of Basantapur, Buddhabhumi Municipality-1 in the district.

According to police, the incident occurred when the bus (Lu 1 Kha 7437) en route from Butwal to Chandrauta rear-ended the motorcycle (Lu 19 Pa 4482) at Imiliya yesterday, injuring motorcyclist Tharu.

The critically injured Tharu was rushed to the Taulihawa-based District Hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries the same night during the course of treatment, informed Police Inspector Manohar Raj Shrestha, at the Gorusinghe-based Area Police Office.

It has been learnt that Tharu was an employee at the District Land Survey Office.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the bus and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.
