10 houses buried, 100 at high risk of landslides in Dolakha

DOLAKHA: As many as 10 houses have been buried in a rain-triggered landslide in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality-2 of Dolakha district on Friday night. Jagat Bahadur Khatri (55) of Biramsi Tole went missing while he was trying to avoid being buried by the landslide.

The landslide that occurred at around 10:30 pm yesterday at Chansebhir in Jhagadedhara also damaged more than 30 houses in the area. Similarly, 19 households at Sirise Tole in Gaurishankar-3 and 36 households in Shailung Rural Municipality-1 are at a high risk of landslides.

Meanwhile, Nishan Khadka (18) was swept away by Jungu Khola while he was rescuing passengers of a bus that was stuck in the river near his village. Khadka, who had gone to receive his parents travelling on the same bus, has also gone missing, informed Police Inspector Resham Bohara.

Police personnel with the help of locals rescued all persons aboard the bus on the same night. A search operation has begun to find the two missing persons.

According to police statistics, as many as 100 persons of 28 households have been displaced by landslides in wards 6 and 7 of Gaurishankar Rural Municipality.
